Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the website linestool.com (the "Service"), operated by LinesTool ("we", "us", "our"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

LinesTool is a free, browser-based code line counter. It reports four calibers per file — Total, Code, Comment and Blank lines — detects languages by filename, Shebang, extension and content fingerprint, and exports reports as CSV. All processing happens client-side in your browser.

2. Acceptable Use

  • Use the Service only for lawful purposes.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt, overload or reverse the Service's hosting infrastructure.
  • Do not misrepresent the Service's output — see our disclaimer on the informational nature of line counts.

3. Your Content

Files you count remain yours. Because processing is entirely local, we never receive, store or claim any rights over your source code or data. CSV reports you export are yours to use without restriction from us.

4. No Warranty

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Line counts are informational estimates produced by heuristic parsing, not certified measurements. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that counts will match any particular tool or standard. See the disclaimer for details.

5. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LinesTool and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages — including lost profits, lost business, or decisions made in reliance on line-count reports — arising from or related to your use of the Service.

6. Advertising

The Service may display third-party advertisements. Advertisers are responsible for the content of their ads, and any dealings you have with them are solely between you and the advertiser.

7. Changes to the Service and Terms

We may modify or discontinue the Service at any time, and may update these Terms occasionally. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
